Sandra Equihua
Sandra Equihua is a creator, illustrator, and character designer. She was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico, where she grew up inspired by both American and Mexican cultures. She received her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Ibero-American University. It wasn’t until after graduation that she discovered her passion for illustration.
Her clients include Sony Pictures, McGraw Hill, WEA, Disney, WB, Nickelodeon, and the California State Fair. She has also worked in animation as an illustrator and character designer for shows such as Sony’s El Macho, WB’s Mucha Lucha, Disney’s The Buzz on Maggie, and Nick Jr.’s Wow Wow Wubzy!
Sandra won an Emmy for her designs on El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and later received an Annie Award for her designs on The Book of Life. Both of these projects were co-created with her husband and collaborator.
