What They're Saying

Critics Review

Misfit is loaded with unconventional wisdom rendered from genuine societal outsiders. Mortimer delivers a tome that is a highly motivational must read. Herein are revealed the specifications for unbounded revolution.”—CR Stecyk, Counter Culture Historian/ Artist

“Sean Mortimer has mapped the secret passages of nonconformity, at long last shining a light on the legends who built our community of dissidents. He’s the Vonnegut of the disenfranchised, and Misfit is required reading for everyone who lives—or wants to live—a life less ordinary. It’s brilliant, irreverent, and dangerously inspiring.”—Bret Anthony Johnston, internationally bestselling author of Remember Me Like This

“Whether I’ve wanted to or not, I’ve been on the misfit path my whole life. In Misfit, not only has Sean collected some of our culture’s most influential renegades, but he’s also distilled how nurturing your authentic self is the most satisfying way to live.”—Christian Jacobs, co-creator of Yo Gabba Gabba!

“If you need the bravery to rise above the system, bare it all, read this book, look within and you can probably change the world with what is special in you.”—Michelle “Estrojen” Steilen

“Sean’s always had a razor-sharp eye for the hustlers, weirdos, and true originals who actually move culture. Misfit: a Survival Guide is a field manual for creative outsiders—funny, honest, and packed with hard-won lessons. If you’ve ever built something from nothing, this book will feel like a nod from a fellow troublemaker. It’s a reminder that the path less traveled is usually the one worth taking.”—Roger Gastman, creator of Beyond the Streets
