About The Author
Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic journey as an art studio messenger, later transitioning to a career as a cartoonist and eventually serving as an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son featuring a small puppy, marking the genesis of Spot. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980. This interactive children’s book introduced a groundbreaking lift-the-flap format, complemented by a simple narrative and endearing, whimsical illustrations. Its immediate popularity prompted him to pursue writing full-time. Since then, Spot books have delighted children globally, extending into audiobooks, animation, toys, and games.
