About The Author

Eric Hill

Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, transitioning to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.

In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, and Spot was born. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980, an interactive children’s book featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and engaging, distinctive illustrations. The book’s immediate popularity inspired him to pursue writing full-time. Since then, Spot books have been cherished by children globally and have expanded into audio books, animation, toys, and games.
