Wab Kinew is recognized as one of “9 Aboriginal movers and shakers you should know” by Postmedia News. He serves as the Associate Vice-President for Indigenous Relations at The University of Winnipeg and is a correspondent with Al-Jazeera America.

Kinew gained prominence as the 2015 host for CBC’s Canada Reads, where he successfully defended Joseph Boyden’s novel The Orenda. Previously, he hosted the acclaimed CBC-TV documentary series 8th Fire in 2012.

His work in hip-hop music and journalism has garnered numerous awards. He is a member of the Midewin and an Honourary Witness for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. Wab Kinew resides in Winnipeg with his family.
