Barbara Oakley

Professor of Engineering at Oakland University and Ramn y Cajal Distinguished Scholar of Global Digital Learning at McMaster University. Her research interests lie in bioengineering, with a focus on neuroscience and cognitive psychology. Dr. Oakley co-teaches the popular massive open online courses (MOOCs) “Learning How to Learn” and “Mindshift” with neuroscientist Terrence Sejnowski. She has been recognized with numerous teaching awards, including the American Society of Engineering Education’s Chester F. Carlson Award, the National Science Foundation New Century Scholar Award, and the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education.
