Chris Ryan
Born in 1961 in a village near Newcastle, Chris Ryan joined the SAS in 1984. During his ten years in the Regiment, he participated in overt and covert operations and served as Sniper Team Commander of the anti-terrorist team.
During the Gulf War, Chris was the sole survivor of an eight-man team to escape from Iraq. Three of his colleagues were killed and four were captured. This marked the longest escape and evasion in SAS history, for which he was awarded the Military Medal.
In his final two years with the SAS, Chris was involved in selecting and training potential recruits. He left the Regiment in 1994 and is now a bestselling author of thrillers for adults, as well as the ALPHA FORCE series for younger readers. His work in security sees him travel globally.
Chris has also appeared in several television programmes, including Hunting Chris Ryan, Pushed to the Limit (Toughest Families), and Terror Alert (Sky TV, 2004).
