Christopher de Hamel
Christopher de Hamel, raised in New Zealand, has spent a long career at Sotheby’s and Cambridge handling more medieval manuscripts than probably anyone alive. His books, including Meetings with Remarkable Manuscripts and A History of Illuminated Manuscripts, have won major prizes and been translated widely. His latest, The Migrants, blends memoir of his NZ childhood with the stories of rare manuscripts, and he is a Life Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, living in London.
