In print for nearly 10 years, Tramping in New Zealand has become a best-selling tramping guide to 40 of the most popular tramps in New Zealand. In order to keep the title current and accurate, Tramping in New Zealand has been fully revised and updated. Each tramp is illustrated with at least one accurate panoramic Geographx map, and is supported by relevant, up-to-date route information, as well as photographs from Shaun Barnett, one of New Zealand's most respected tramping authors. The tramps covered include New Zealand's best known Great Walks, such as the Milford Track, the Routeburn and the Tongariro Crossing, and many others from both islands, such as the Queen Charlotte Track, the Rees-Dart near Queenstown, and the Pinnacles Hut on the Coromandel. If you were to have one guide book on New Zealand tramping, this is the one to have.
Shaun Barnett started tramping in the Kaweka Ranges as a teenager in Hawkes Bay, and since then has tramped extensively throughout New Zealand and also in Tasmania, Alaska, Canada and South America. He holds a degree in ecology from Massey University and a Diploma in Parks & Recreation from Lincoln University and after working for the Department of Conservation, he turned to full-time writing and photography in 1996. He currently edits the Federated Mountain Clubs' Bulletin, edited New Zealand Wilderness Magazine for some years, and has written the bestselling Bird's Eye Guides, Tramping in New Zealand and Day Walks in New Zealand, North Island Weekend Tramps, Natural New Zealand, and is the co-author of the Montana Award Winning Classic Tramping in New Zealand. He lives in Wellington with his wife and family.
