Sam Mitchell exploded onto the AFL scene in 2002 when drafted to Hawthorn from the Box Hill Hawks. He went on to play 307 games for Hawthorn and kick 67 goals, and captained them to the 2008 premiership, the club's first in 17 years.Along with winning three more flags with the Hawks in 2013, 2014 and 2015, Sam represented Victoria in 2008 and was selected for the All-Australian team in 2011, 2013 and 2015. He was named joint winner of the 2012 Brownlow Medal in 2016. Sam played his final AFL season in 2017 for the West Coast Eagles, where he isnow the assistant coach.Today Sam lives in Cottesloe, Western Australia, with his wife Lyndall and children Smith, Emmy and Scarlett.
