Description

What woman doesn't love an action hero? Harriet Scott, for one. Daughter of famous adventurers and documentary makers, she grew up travelling the world on the environmental flagship, The Watch and is fiercely independent. But when her ship sinks in Antarctica, Harriet is rescued by Commander Per Amundsen, a frighteningly capable Norwegian scientist and naval officer, who is in Antarctica to conduct research into glacial melts in the Southern Oceans. And a living, breathing action hero, who doesn't seem aware of the effect he has on women. And men. Per and Harriet are descendants of Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen, the first and second men to reach the South Pole. Like Scott, Harriet is persuasive and passionate--if a little high risk. Like Amundsen, Per is cool and calculating--in a control freak sort of way. Only after overcoming her terrible fear of water by learning to swim under Per's demanding e ye can Harriet come to terms with the trauma and loss in her past. Harriet starts to appreciate that some risks are well worth taking--and that polar opposites can, in fact, attract.
