About The Author

Paul Fletcher

Paul Fletcher is the federal MP for Bradfield, in northern Sydney, and the Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts in the Morrison government. He entered parliament in December 2009, joined the ministry in 2015, and was appointed to his present role in December 2020. Before entering parliament, Paul was director, corporate and regulatory affairs, at Optus for eight years. Earlier in his career, he was chief of staff to the Minister for Communications in the Howard government, senator Richard Alston.

Paul has dual first-class honours degrees in law and economics from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Columbia University, New York, where he was a Fulbright scholar. He was active in student politics at Sydney University and was a champion university debater, twice reaching the finals of the World Universities Debating Championship.

Paul is married to jewellery designer Manuela Zappacosta and they have two sons. His previous book, Wired Brown Land? Telstra’s Battle for Broadband, was published by UNSW Press in 2009.
