Black Lace- the leading erotic imprint for women
Revealing the most private thoughts of hundreds of women, here are sexual fantasies which on first sight appear shocking or bizarre—such as the bank clerk who wants to be a vampire, or the nanny with a passion for Darth Vader. It investigates the recurrent themes in female fantasies and the cultural influences that have determined them—from fairy tales to cult TV, from fetish fashion to historical novels. This collection argues that sexual archetypes—such as the "dark man of the psyche"—play an important role in arousal, allowing the reader to find gratification safely through personal narratives of adventure and sexual abandon.

The Black Lace brand name is synonymous with quality erotica written by and for women. When the book was originally published in 1999 it was the first collection of British women's fantasies to appear on the market. Previously all books of this kind were from the US, with a very American focus. The editor had unique access to the Black Lace readers' most private opinions and spent a year and half interviewing and corresponding with the contributors. The results are fascinating and clearly divided into themed sections dealing with the many-faceted nature of female sexuality. With thought-provoking analytical essays before each chapter, the reader can follow the history of modern sexual behaviour and see how popular culture and even fairy stories have influenced our erotic imaginations. The message of the book is that pleasure is good, fantasies are fun and no one has the right to tell you your fantasy is 'wrong'. This is a well-timed update for this groundbreaking work.
