Description

A simple approach to successful forex trading Many foreign exchange traders use either fundamental analysis or technical analysis and they're often considered to be mutually exclusive approaches. But FX does not have to be traded that way - fusing the two types of analysis will improve your research and, more importantly, your trading results. This is how Kathleen Brooks trades foreign exchange and she has found it to be extremely successful. In Kathleen Brooks on Forex she reveals the secrets of this approach, demonstrating the indicators she uses, and showing through detailed examples how she plans and executes profitable trades. At the heart of Kathleen's trading philosophy is the principle that fundamental factors - politics, economics and societal changes - cause currency prices to move in the medium to long term (and sometimes in the strangest ways), but throughout the day the price movements are based upon technical factors.Building a trading plan around the two sets of factors works for her and by reading about how she does her pre-trade market analysis (the homework), forms a trading plan and puts the plan into action, you will see how to apply this principle in practice in your own trading. The book is divided into four sections: - Part A - using fundamental indicators to gain an impression of the market - Part B - using technical indicators to refine your trading plan - Part C - fusing fundamental and technical analysis to select trades - Part D - revealing Kathleen's risk management techniques Kathleen's description of her method, and ideas on how you can use it too, will appeal to anyone who wants to learn more about how to trade foreign exchange as well as those already in the market looking for a fresh approach. Blissfully free of rhetoric, written in an accessible personal style and punctuated with anecdotes from Kathleen's unique career in the markets, this is a new and refreshing look at foreign exchange.

More on this Book

This book will start with the basics of how foreign exchange works, but it will be my spin on how the market works, which I hope will give you a clearer idea than other books about what it is you are doing when you enter a trade. It then progresses to more complicated aspects of the market such as leverage and margin. I aim for simplicity so don't worry, there are no huge blocks of text or tiny font and I use plenty of diagrams and real-life examples to show you what I am talking about so that author and reader are on the same page (so to speak) at all times. Before I go on I need to give you a taste of my philosophy as this is vital to the structure of this book. I believe that fundamental factors: politics, economics and even social factors cause prices to move the way they do (and sometimes in the strangest ways), however throughout the day the smallest price movements are usually based upon technical factors that cause prices to move the way they do. So you'll get no fundamental or technical purists here: my approach is to combine the two. It works for me. But before you can think about implementing strategies you need to make sure that your risk management strategy is water tight - this is the chief focus of Part A of this book. I spend a lot of time on risk management techniques, however my aim was to give this section my own subjective spin to try and make it different from my first experiences with learning about risk management. It was always the section I rushed through when I first entered the markets because I thought it was dull and boring. But without a firm grasp of risk management techniques you can soon find the lows outnumber the highs in FX. Part B goes straight to the heart of my philosophy. It will help you to understand the basic and more advanced fundamental and technical indicators out there, before the creme de la creme: how to combine the two. Most books either focus on fundamental or technical tricks, very rarely do they fuse the two. But that is what I will try to do for the bulk of this book. To finish off there is my trading blog, which will give you worked through examples of my trades, how I chose them, why I put them on at the time I did, and, crucially, how they performed. These trades will be real-life examples of my philosophy in action, so you will understand how I combine technical and fundamental analysis on a daily basis.
