Finding the Items You Want
To find books, you can browse the categories on the right side of most pages on The Nile, or enter keywords in the search box on the top-left .
If you want to make a more specific search, just click on "Advanced Search" underneath the main search box. From the Advanced Search screen, you can search for any combination of fields including Title, Author, ISBN, Publisher, Keywords or Binding (although you must include at least one of the first three).
If your first search doesn't immediately return the books you are looking for, try entering your search in speech marks. For example, enter "One Night out Stealing" instead of just One Night out Stealing.
If you still can't see what you're looking for, please contact us. We'll do our best to locate it for you from our international network of suppliers and will usually get back to you within 24 hours.
Placing Your First Order
Placing an order with The Nile is easy. There's no need to create an account first. You automatically create an account when you place your first order online.
Here are the steps you need to follow to place an order.

1. Add the Items to Your Shopping Cart
If you want to order an item from The Nile, click the "Add to Shopping Cart" button on the item's product detail page. Once you've added an item to your Shopping Cart, use the cart's top navigation bar or the "Continue shopping" button to keep searching or browsing until your cart contains all of the items you want to order. You can access the contents of your Shopping Cart at any time by clicking the Shopping Cart icon at the top of every page of our Web site.
2. Proceed to Checkout
Take a moment to review all of the items you've placed in your Shopping Cart. If you decide that you don't want to purchase a particular item right away, click the "Add to Wishlist" button on the product page.

3. Sign In
Enter your e-mail address, indicate that you are a new customer, and click the "Sign in" button. (Keep in mind that the e-mail address you provide here will be the only e-mail address to which we can send information about subsequent orders.) Do not fill in the password field. You will be asked to provide a password for your account later in the process.
4. Enter a Shipping Address
Tell us where you would like to ship your order, and let us know if any of the items are to be gifts. (If so, you'll be given a chance to order gift-wrap and add a note.) If you are shipping to a post office box, please enter the words "PO BOX" before your box number to ensure that the order is delivered by New Zealand Post and not a courier.
5. Provide a Password and Payment Information
Choose a password for your account so that when you come back to The Nile in the future, you can use the same shipping address and method of payment you provided during this first order. You will also be able to use your password to make changes to your order and account information. Make sure you write your password down somewhere so that you remember it the next time you place an order.
Next, let us know how you would like to pay for your order. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, cheque or Bank Transfer. All orders must be prepaid. If you're paying with a credit card, enter the number without spaces or dashes.
6. Review and Submit Your Order
Check the accuracy all of the information you provided and make any necessary adjustments. When you are ready, click the Place Your Order button to submit your order. Once you place your order, we will send you a confirmation e-mail message. We will send you another e-mail message at the time of shipment.
7. Check Your Order Status
If you would like to review or change something about the order you placed before it enters the shipping process, click the My Account link in the top right corner of most pages on our site. Here you will be able to change the particulars of your order without having to contact us.
When will I get my book?
Alongside every book is an estimated delivery timeframe. This is the time it will take for us to obtain the book and ship it to your doorstep. Depending on where the book is at the time you order it, this could be 3 days to 2 weeks. If you are ordering multiple books in one order, they may ship in multiple deliveries. You will not be charged for more than one delivery fee.

Deliveries within NZ are made with a courier.
Deliveries to Australia are done by Airmail.
All other deliveries are by courier or airmail, depending on the destination country.
What if the book isn't available?
On some occasions, we may be unable to supply the book you have selected. This could be due to our suppliers no longer having the title available or an erroneous listing on our website. In either case we will contact you immediately by e-mail to advise you of the problem. If we can obtain the book at a later date we will give you the option to continue waiting for the book or to cancel your order. If you select to cancel the order, we will refund you immediately. Unless otherwise indicated, you will be refunded by the same means by which you paid.
Damaged books and Refunds
If you receive the book in a damaged condition or wish to return your book for any reason, please contact customer services.
What if my order is not received?
If your order is not received within the time frame stipulated on our site, please contact customer services to trace the missing item.
Please note: we are only able to process claims for missing items within two months of the dispatch date. We are not able to accept any claims after this time frame.
How can I pay for my order?
We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We also accept cheques drawn on New Zealand bank accounts, bank transfers and Internet Banking. Your credit card details are always secured with 128 bit encryption.
View your recent orders
To view details of your recent orders, click the My Account link in the top right corner of most pages on our site. If you are not already logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted. Click on "My Orders" to see a list of all your recent orders. Here you can view the order number, order date, total cost, and the items in the order. If you would like further details, just click the "Query this Order" link to send an email to our friendly customer services team.
Update your address or contact details
To update your address or contact details, click the My Account link in the top right corner of most pages on our site. If you are not already logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted. Click on "My Profile" to view or change your details. However, if you want to change the delivery address for an order already placed, please contact customer services.
